Earlier in the year our whole office took part in an archery experience as part of a team building event. The event was designed to give everybody a chance to get to know each other a bit better, but it was also a good excuse for a day out of the office!
Before booking our archery experience I looked into loads of different activities, but I thought archery was something that we'd all be fairly good at. Our office is a mix of men and women aged between 18-60ish so I wanted to choose an activity that suited everybody, and when I told the guys at work I'd chosen an archery experience they were all really excited to give it a go.
When we arrived at the site on the day of our event the guys couldn't wait to get down to action, and after a short safety briefing we were shown how to handle the bows and take out the targets. As soon as we'd mastered the basics we moved straight onto some of the trickier targets, and to say none of us had been on an archery experience before we seemed to pick it up really quickly.
We mastered the basics so quickly that we got to play loads of different games, which made taking on the targets even more fun. The games were supposedly just for fun but they soon brought out everybody’s competitive streak. None of us would admit it but we were all desperate to win, so when it came to the scored rounds at the end of the day things got very serious! As it turned out we were all pretty well matched, and we managed to get some really high final scores. I was nowhere near winning, but it was really good fun and the perfect way to end our day.
The whole day was a massive success and I'd definitely recommend an archery experience if you're thinking of organising a corporate event. The whole team really enjoyed getting to grips with the art of archery, and all the different games we played made it even more fun. Just don't be surprised if things a little bit competitive!
